Midweek Randoms

Two movies I've watched lately that were totally interesting and heartfelt:

1. The Pregnancy Project
http://www.mylifetime.com/movies/the-pregnancy-project

I saw this girl on a talk show a few months ago and was interested in her school project where she "pretended" to be pregnant. Her story was made into a book, and now a movie on Lifetime which I watched recently.  It's a very eye opening and real story about how we all deal with teen pregnancy. Watch it!

2.  Like Dandelion Dust

I read this book a few years ago and I recently saw it on my TV guide. If you haven't read or watched it you need to! It's very dramatic and heartwrenching~ especially those who are close to those who have adopted children. Beware-- you will cry!

Book I'm Reading:
Prayers for baby

This is a great book for expectant mothers! My mom got this for me and I love it. Every week it has a little bit on babies development as well as mom's "growing" adjustments! It then has a page of prayers for your babies specific development during that week!
Makeup I'm Loving:

Bare Minerals makeup kit. There's two of these limited editions and I have both! (Thanks to my sister-in law!) They come with a tutorial for 3 different looks as well which is really handy!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

Size of Baby? About 5-6 Ounces and about 5 inches long! The size of an onion or the size of your palm! How crazy!

Total Weight Gain?  3-4 lbs

Maternity Clothes? Wearing my belly band everyday now with my work clothes! Have a couple maternity shirts and will probably be shopping for pants this weekend!

Sleep? Still sleeping fine.

Food Cravings? Gardetto's this week. :o)

Stretch Marks? None yet-trying to exfoliate and lotion my belly!

Gender? Will find out on February 23rd. CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!

What I'm Looking Forward To: February 23rd ultrasound!!

Highlight Of The Week: Feeling baby move! I've obviously never experienced this before, so I cant be 100% sure, but I've felt it a few times at night or when I'm squished at my desk at work.  It's a little "tap, tap" coming from the inside. :o)

Weekly Wisdom: Take full advantage of energy spurts!

Milestones:

  • Umbilical cord is growing longer and stronger
  • Baby is finally putting on fat
  • Baby is practicing sucking and swallowing

16 Weeks, 3 Days!

How Far Long? 16 weeks, 3 Days

Size of Baby?Size of an avacado

Total Weight Gain?  3 lbs

Maternity Clothes? Not quite yet- I got a belly band this week though. My work pants are getting a little snug!

Sleep? Sleeping good although I'm thinking I need to invest in a body pillow soon.

Food Cravings? Grapefruit!! And I've been eating chocolate & peanut butter  a lot too.

Stretch Marks? None yet- but trying to exfoliate and lotion my belly!

Gender? Will find out on February 23rd. CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Feeling baby kick and move~ and knowing what the gender is so I can start putting the nursery together.

Highlight Of The Week: Hearing babies heartbeat and hearing it move around in there! I thought I felt the baby move while the doctor was listening to the heartbeat with the doppler. He said he was moving around a lot (you can tell by the swishing sound between the heartbeat, and then I felt a little nudge!)
Babies heartbeat was at 152 this week!

Weekly Wisdom: Treasure every moment.

Milestones:
  • Baby's listening to your voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in her ears.
  • Baby's growing hair, lashes and eyebrows.
  • And baby's forming taste buds.

Symptoms: Round ligament/stretching pain, dizzy spells, tiredness

15 Weeks, 2 Days!

I've been sick this week with a bad cough that is getting progressively worse. Luckily, my body doesn't feel too terribly bad, the coughing is just taking a toll on me. And it freaks me out coughing so hard- sometimes it definitely hurts/pulls the round ligament muscles! Drinking lots of tea with honey here!

How Far Long? 15 Weeks, 2 days

Size of Baby? The size of a navel orange! (about 4 inches)

Total Weight Gain? 1-2 lbs.

Maternity Clothes? Not quite yet.

Sleep? Sleeping good although I'm thinking I need to invest in a body pillow soon.

Food Cravings? Grapefruit!! And I've been eating chocolate peanut butter cookies a lot too.

Stretch Marks? None yet- but trying to exfoliate and lotion my belly!

Gender? Another month before we find out!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Feeling baby kick and move~ and knowing what the gender is so I can start putting the nursery together.

Highlight Of The Week: Getting an hour massage. Bliss!

Weekly Wisdom: Don't get sick. It stinks!

Milestones: I think I finally "look" more pregnant and I love it. Although if you didnt know me, you still might not be able to tell I guess. Babies eyelids are still fused shut but he/she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, he/she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but he/she is forming taste buds! Baby is also busy kicking, punching, and wiggling toes! How cute!

Emotions: Still can get mad in a flash! (mostly with Jacob. haha!)

Symptoms: Round ligament pain, dizzy spells

I really need to start having Jacob take pictures with the actual camera! I'm usually in my sweats by the time he gets home~ I'll work on that! :o)

14 Weeks, 4 Days!

Welcome To The Second Trimester! Yay!!

How Far Long? 14 Weeks

Size of Baby? The size of a lemon

Total Weight Gain? 1 lb

Maternity Clothes? Still don't need them quite yet. There are a couple pair of pants that are starting to get uncomfortable when sitting or leaning forward though.

Sleep? Sleeping good.

Food Cravings? Fruit, sour stuff, orange juice, starting to get my chocolate appetite back.

Stretch Marks? None yet.

Gender? We find out at the end of February!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Feeling baby kick and move!

Weekly Wisdom: Do what you can and listen to your body. If you need to rest, then rest. If you have the energy, exercise or do a task you need done while you can!

Milestones: We've hit the 2nd Trimester!!! Woo hoo!! Baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His/Her kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He/She can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch baby sucking his thumb.

Emotions: Emotions were fairly stable this week! :o)

Symptoms: Can't eat a whole lot or big meals since I get full really fast. And when I'm full, I'm really uncomfortable! Breathing harder, particularly in the morning while getting ready. Don't know if it's from the warm shower, or a combo of shower, blow drying hair, makeup routine, but it really tires me out fast!

One Little Word 2012

I haven't done this in a couple years, chosen a "word" to live by for the year.

Recently I saw on a friends blog a reference to Ali Edwards Blog, who compiled a whole list of words that people have chosen for 2012. She's done this for quite a few years, but today I read through all the words people had chosen and loved every single one of them!

So I decided I needed to choose my word for 2012. It actually is a lot harder than it seems. It's harder than it was the last time I did this. A couple years ago I chose Chances as my word. (as in Taking Chances). I think I did a pretty good job of that.  This year, there are so many new things going on that it's hard to choose just one word.

I wrote out 6 of my top word choices:
Adapt
Appreciate
Change
Enjoy
Prioritize
Treasure

Adapt: To make suitable to or fit for a specific use or situation.

Appreciate: To recognize the quality, significance, or magnitude of; To be thankful or show gratitude for.

Change: A transformation or transition from one state, condition, or phase to another.

Enjoy: To receive pleasure or satisfaction from.

Prioritize: To put things in order of importance.

Treasure: To keep or regard as precious; value highly.

I think I chose Adapt, Change, Prioritize  because those are things I know I will HAVE to do this year.
With a baby on the way, roles shifting at work, Jacob and I will have to adapt our lifestyle. We will have to make due with certain situations. Both of us will need to change and transform as we become parents and have different/more roles. We will have to prioritize and make sure we are putting things, people, duties, in order of importance and keeping a good balance.
Yes, these are three things I know I MUST do. Words that will come into my life no matter if I want them to or not!

So do I really want to choose a word that I MUST live by, or that I WANT to live by? (even though those three words are things I do want and strive for for this year)

{TREASURE}

Yes, I think this is the word I choose for 2012.

{To keep or regard as precious; value highly.}

I want to:
Value my marriage highly.
Regard my friends & family as precious.
Value each day.
Regard this time of just me and my husband as precious.
Value the blessings I've been given.
Regard each season as precious....

Value Highly. Regard as Precious.

Words to Live by for 2012.

What is your word this year?

13 Weeks!

Only 1 week away until I move into the 2nd Trimester!!! Yay!!!
I feel so blessed and thankful right now.
Last week we had a doctors appointment and got to hear the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler. It was a fast appointment- weight, blood pressure, heartbeat. But fast means everything's going good I guess!

How Far Long? 13 Weeks

Size of Baby? 3 inches- about the size of a peach or a medium shrimp. haha!

Total Weight Gain? 1 lb

Maternity Clothes? Still don't need them quite yet. There are a couple pair of pants that are starting to get uncomfortable when sitting or leaning forward though.

Sleep? Sleeping like a rock at night now- minus the getting up to pee. Still taking naps!

Best Moment This Week? Last Thursday we heard the heartbeat on the doppler! 155 bpm!

Food Cravings? Oranges still. Sour patch kids. Yogurt and fruit.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Getting that second trimester energy boost!

Weekly Wisdom:  Be thankful at all times. I dont ever want to be one of those pregnant women (or women in general) who complains all the time about how horrible she looks or feels or this and that, when I am blessed beyond measure!

Milestones: One more week until I've made it to the 2nd Trimester! Baby's fingertips have now formed! And here's a crazy fact-- if its a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Crazy!

Emotions: Mood swings. Cranky one minute, fine the next. Cry more easily and definitely get mad easier! (Poor Jacob)

Symptoms: Tired, every now and then upset stomach, my system seems to be working "too fast" if you know what I mean. (Most of the books tell you that you'll experience the opposite effect!) Sorry TMI! haha!

 12 Weeks
 13 Weeks

13 Weeks- Front View
You can definitely see my belly pooch out more from the front! Hence my face. haha!

One other thing I forgot to mention... I finally broke down and took out my belly button ring. :o( I was so sad about it. I've had it for 10 years, but I guess it was time. It was a good run!
