33 Weeks and a Hectic Week!

Things have been a little hectic around here for the past few days. Last Thursday we went on our company trip from Thursday- Saturday and had a BLAST! We were busy, busy doing activities and then when we got home Sunday evening Jacob started feeling crappy. By Monday afternoon I was taking him to urgent health care and by 6:30 pm admitting him to the hospital! Emergency appendectomy! He had surgery that evening and was finally all done and in his hospital room by 1:00 am. I didn't go home until 4:45 am and went back to the hospital to spend the rest of the next day with him by 10:00 am. He got to come home last night and we have spent today resting (well, Jacob has) and catching up on housework. Thankfully we have GREAT friends, family, and church to help us out with meals, yard work, moving furniture around to get Jacob comfortable and to keep his spirits up! Now, hopefully he is all healed by time baby arrives!

32 Weeks and Where Were We A Year Ago.

A year ago I was recovering from my Endometriosis surgery, wandering what the future would hold for our chance of having a baby. I had a cyst taken out, a bad case of endometriosis, and a blocked tube. I was taking lupron shots to stop my period for what was supposed to be 6 months long, although after 4 months of torture with those shots I stopped them!
You can read about my surgery here.
I cannot believe it's been a YEAR since my surgery. A year ago we did not know if we would be able to have kids on our own, more IUI's and shots and procedures were on our to do list, my body was wore out and miserable... and here we are today almost to the end of my pregnancy!
A miracle and a blessing indeed!

{Treasuring} every moment!
This was technically taken yesterday-- This shirt is almost too short to wear anymore!

Wearing a dress=I look very large!! Haha! I got a lot of comments today when I wore this to work. :o)

Recovery is a process...

Well recovery hasn't been a piece of cake, although it hasn't been too bad.  The actual pain from the surgery was not bad at all-- the side effects have been awful! I thought I'd do a re-cap of the past 6 days of recovery.

Day 1: Surgery Day-- Good spirits going into surgery, little difficulty finding an anti-biotic to administer via IV due to allergies. Really dehydrated after surgery. Given morphine via IV, and oxycodone pills to take home.

Days 2-3: Don't remember much! Taking oxycodone and those things KNOCKED me out! Still dehydrated (probably due to sleeping so much). Not wanting to eat.Throat sore.

Day 4: Woke up with HORRIBLE migraine. Tried to sleep it off, but woke up still with a pounding head. Emotions went crazy. Cried half the day. Still not eating. Sore throat a little worse. Not going to the bathroom. (lovely side effect of oxycodone) Stopped taking pain meds that morning. Pain from surgery not bad though!

Day 5: Actually ate some food. Pain very minimal-- only when moving around a lot. Took a shower-props to hubby who helped wash my hair! Took off bandages! Still not going to the bathroom (so medicine to fix that). Throat now itchy, weird, sensitive-thinking somethings up with that. Took a small walk!

Day 6: Side effects of meds still in play. Really annoying. Now can't stop going to the bathroom. (ha!) And Dr. agrees I may have thrush. Finally at 7:00 pm get meds to help. PRAYING it does. Mouth issues are the worst! Walking around better! Ate a little more. Will feel almost 100% when this thrush stuff gets kicked!

Day 7: To Come-hopefully better than the last 6 days!

Thank you all for your prayers throughout this surgery and our whole infertility process! And a special thanks to everyone who brought us meals after surgery! It  helped a lot! Jacob and I really appreciate all the support and help we've received, especially this week!

On the Road to Recovery

Me before being wheeled into surgery!
I was on the "happy juice" and couldn't get my hat on by myself! :o)

Sorry if you think this is gross... but this is the cyst they took out of me!

Along with the cyst, they took out an extensive amount of endometriosis. Dr. O was very optimistic that this will help us tremendously in our journey to becoming parents! Since the Endometriosis was worse than expected, I will be on Lupron shots. I think he said for 6 months, but I was still on anesthesia and morphine when everyone was explaining what's next. I'll find out more during my post-op appointment next week.

I have to say, Kadlec was a GREAT hospital. I had a great experience, the nurses and doctors were all very caring and efficient. Such a nice change from our local hospital!

After I was out of recovery, they wheeled me out to our car (on loan from my parents since we just sold our mustang) and me, Jacque, and Jacob took off to head home making a pit stop at McDonald's so they could eat. I was doped up on morphine still... and our car DIED in the drive-thru at McDonald's! I couldn't believe it! I really didnt care because I was pretty much asleep, but it was pretty comical. Thank goodness my parents were still close behind, we all had to pile into the suburban!

Anyway, I'm doing well! Sore and still very, very sleepy. My 3 incisions are so little~ and there's no stitches! They glued me up! I'm curious to see if there will be any scarring.

I'll update again after Post-Op appointment with more details!
Thanks again for all your prayers and support!

Tomorrow's the Big Day!

9:00 am tomorrow I will be checking into the hospital for my surgery!

After many months of waiting for this surgery, and a few mishaps with the insurance company, the day is finally here. It's really happening now.

They'll be taking out the endometriosis, cysts, and whatever else they find in there.  Dr.O is also going to shoot dye into my fallopian tubes to see if there are blockages.

I should be under for about two hours~getting nervous now!

You're prayers are appreciated! I'll let you know how it goes!

Hopefully this will give us some answers so we can move forward to build our family. :o)

The Countdown Has Begun!

Today--Good Friday--marks one week until my surgery! I'm starting to get nervous now. This is why I wanted to do it right away and jumped at the chance to fill in a cancellation (see April Fool's Day post). I wouldn't have had time to be nervous. That's how I like to do things like this--schedule it right away and get it over with otherwise I will fret about it.

Well I made it about a month and a half without fretting. I've been excited mostly. Now I'm nervous and wanting to get on with it! No thanks to {my wonderful} husband who started asking those stupid "what-if" questions last night. "Why would you ask that to a hypochondriac?" I asked. He just laughed and laughed. Yeah... keep laughing buddy! You'll be in the hospital next. :o) haha.

Today I have an appointment with my regular family Dr. to discuss recent bloodwork about my thyroid. I wanted to get his opinion on the results before my surgery. Then Tuesday my pre-op appointment!

The rest of today's plans:
Booking a trip to Florida (yay!)
Coloring eggs with niece and nephew
Good Friday service
{maybe}seeing Water for Elephants
Enjoy the sunshine

Here's some pictures from Duke's 6th Birthday on Wednesday. I always get him toys and make him treats! He's so spoiled. I put Happy Birthday to him on Facebook and Jacob says "Duke gets more Happy Birthday's than I do!" Haha!

 This was his favorite toy!

{Happy Good Friday!}
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.'"

April Fools

I had a prank pulled on me. Except it wasn't a prank. And the lady really didn't mean to. Still... ironic it was April Fool's Day.

Yesterday the booking department from Dr.O's office called and said, "We have a cancellation and an opening for your surgery next Friday do you want it?" Umm yeah!!! I was way excited.

20 minutes later a call saying "I'm so sorry, someone got to the O.R. and booked it before me."
I told her it was a mean April Fool's joke. She felt bad.

So... surgery is still on for April 29. I can wait an extra two weeks I guess. :o)

In case any of you missed the surgery announcement you can find it here.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

I Trust in You Lord

PSALM 31

Verse 6
I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
   for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.
Verse 15
  My times are in your hands;
How abundant are the good things
that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
on those who take refuge in you.
Verse 14
But I trust in you, LORD;
I say, “You are my God.”

Trust has been hard lately. And its not that I "don't" trust God, it's more that I question Him and His timing. I know God's timing is perfect. I know He has good things stored up for me, He knows the anguish of my soul, my time is in His hands.

It helps to say these verses~these promises~over and over to keep reminding myself.  I'm really not in a place of depression. I'm not angry. I guess I'm just being impatient. I feel a little lost...like I'm in limbo. Where's my kicker? (anyone watch Inception? haha) Jacob and I are both open to adoption. I feel like we probably will adopt someday.  I dont know if now is the time. Maybe it is, but we haven't felt that calling quite yet.  This is where I wish my direction from God would be clear. Yes adopt now, or wait, you'll get pregnant on your own. I want to start the process now if that's the road we are to take. I'm at a standstill right now. At a three way stop sign stuck in the middle. Going backwards a little even. No meds this cycle. No IUI. Waiting...

This week I found out I am definitely having the laparoscopic surgery. They will take out any remaining cysts and any endometriosis they find. I'm guessing they will find a lot! Anyway, I was happy to get the call~I've been wanting to have this surgery done for awhile now. This last cycle when I had to go home from work due to bad cramps was my last straw. I was going to FORCE my doctor to do the surgery! I'm sick of these ridiculous cramps!

My surgery is scheduled for April 29. I was bummed I have to wait a whole month but that's what happens when you go to a popular Dr and popular hospital I guess! I'm excited to see what will become of the surgery. I am on a waiting list to get in sooner, but I'm no real hopeful that that will actually happen. (But praying it does!)
