Kennedy at 9 Months

Kennedy turned 9 Months old October 29!

  • Size 9-12 month clothes
  • Weight: will have to wait for your 9 month appointment in a couple weeks
  • One tooth on the bottom coming in finally
  • Can stand up, and can stand alone for short periods now
  • Bear crawls super fast
  • Into everything already!
  • Your favorite place to go that you arent supposed to be is in the bathroom, going after the plunger.
  • You love baths and are much braver in the water than Jack- you stick your whole face in the water or under the running faucet
  • You LOVE your brother. You can be asleep in the morning and if you hear his voice you literally jump up and start laughing!
  • You like to wrestle
  • You dance and bounce and clap when music comes on
  • You are a HORRIBLE sleeper. Like, the worst. Jack at this age was sleeping from 8-7 with no waking up. You however... sleep from between 7-8:30 to about 6/6:30 with anywhere from 1-5 times a night of waking up. And the times you only wake up once are heavenly. Seriously kid. Get a clue. I'm exhausted. Love you... but not at 1 in the morning. Or 2, or 3, or 4, or 5.
  • Still exclusively nursing. (say what?!) No bottles for you yet.
  • You love your blankey
  • You are a mischevious little thing
  • Love to smile and laugh
  • Still are a cuddler with mommy
  • Taking 2-3 naps a day, although sometimes 4 if you take 2 little cat naps.

  • Playing with toys, banging things together
  • Ga-Ga gave you a little baby doll the other day and you LOVED it!
  • Still NO teeth!
  •  Love to jump in the jumparoo
  • Love to swing outside
  • You love Duke and you really love cats
  • Sleep at night is "slightly" better- you're waking up between 1-3 times, mostly twice but sometimes its every two hours. Bleh.

Sleep Training Kennedy- Days 1 & 2

Kennedy refusing to lay down and fell asleep sitting up... then falling face forward. Lol!

Sunday morning started as a normal day... get up, fix breakfast, start getting ready for church.... time to put Kennedy down for her morning nap so I can finish getting ready. I nurser her and she falls asleep (as she always does), and lay her down in her crib- and only because her swing recently decided to die on me- and she immediately wakes up and starts to cry. I pick her up and rock her back to sleep, lay her back down... wakes and cries. Now if this had been a week day, Jack would have been out in the living room (or Lord knows where) watching TV or eating, or getting into something he shouldn't be. Luckily, it was Sunday and dad was occupying him.  Frustrated, and just plain mad at my baby, I decided it was time. I was sick of having to WORK to put her and keep her to sleep, all the while poor Jack is left to fend for himself for 20-30 minutes. Not ideal. Plus me being frustrated was only escalating and for the sake of both me and Kennedy it was time! So, sort of on a whim... I laid her in her crib and walked out and the sleep training began!

Day 1:
First Nap: 9:00-10:22- Cry, cry, cry!!! Every 5-10 minutes Jacob or I would go in and pat and shush, and lay her back down.
10:22-10:52: Sleep
10:52- Wakes

Second Nap: 1:40- nurse and lay down awake
1:50-2:10- Cries then passes out
2:10-5:00- Sleep!

Bedtime:
Bath, Jammies, lavender oil on feet for bedtime routine
8:15 Nurse and lay to sleep
Literally 3 seconds of crying then fell asleep.
1:00 am Wake and nurse- no issue going back to sleep in crib
5:00 am- Wake and change poopy diaper, nurse and back to sleep
5:30-7:00 am- Sleep

Day 2:
7:00 am-Wake for the day
First Nap:
9:00 am- Nap- Nurse and lay down
9:00-9:30- Cry then sleep (Went in twice to shush and pat to sleep)
10:00- Awake

Second Nap:
1:15- Put in bed
1:15-1:30- Went in once to pat/shush/lay down
1:37- stroked hair and shushed for a minute
1:39- asleep
3:15-Awake

Third Nap: Was hoping to not have a third nap but due to a short morning nap she couldnt quite make it until bedtime... and I dont want an early bedtime since Jack's is at 8:30
5:15: Laid down- shushed and patted
5:15-5:30-crying
5:30 Asleep
5:55- Awake

Bedtime:
9:11- Nursed and laid down
Laid awake, no crying, talking and moving around
9:30- Asleep

Here's to hoping for another NO CRYING night! I can handle two feedings as long as she goes back to sleep! :)  She's not as tired tonight though because she didnt fight as hard and had that third cat nap... so let's all say a prayer together! Sleep baby, sleep!

I felt like it was the longest 5 months of my life with Jack (Ha!) and with Kennedy it's just been so much faster and easier. :) Getting pictures has been a challenge the past two months in her crib because she can't sit up yet but is super squirmy! She is such a joy to us, rolls with the punches, puts a smile on everyone's face, and I love being her mommy!

Miss Kennedy Faith's Birth Story

Kennedy Faith Neighbors
Born January 29, 2015 at 12:50 am
7 lbs 10 oz, 21 inches

The morning of January 28, I sent Jack to daycare so I could have a little downtime to get a few things done around the house and do a few nice things for myself before baby arrived. I got my toes and nails done, enjoyed a nice Starbucks frappe, and then went home to do some last minute nesting and do some walking to see if I could get things moving! I picked Jack up after lunch and we both took naps and woke up around 4:00.

Contractions started somewhere around 6:00 when Jacob got home and I enlisted his help in making dinner while I tried to take it easy. I started timing the contractions, but didnt think much of it since I'd had them on and off the past few weeks. During dinner though, some of them were starting to be pretty uncomfortable so I started timing them. For about an hour they were every 3-4 minutes lasting about a minute long. Sort of like how Jack's labor went- just all the sudden started out of nowhere! Around 7:00 we decided we should take Jack to my parents house for the night just in case, which he was stoked about, and I'm glad we did! By the time we got home, I took a shower, got my bags for the hospital ready, and by that time contractions were stronger and about 2-3 minutes apart. I still wasnt fully convinced I was in labor but I was starting to be in more pain so we called the hospital and came in. Jacob told me we needed to go because he didnt want me to miss my epidural! :)

We arrived at the hospital about 9:00 and got into the monitoring room right away and got hooked up to the monitors and checked. I was at 3 cm. Same as I was with Jack when I was admitted with him! Contractions were now getting hard to talk through or stand up. The nurse said they would come check me in a few hours to see if I really was progressing and could be admitted and I could walk around if I wanted to but I opted to stay in the bed, and I knew I would be progressing fast.  About 30 minutes later I told Jacob I needed the epidural, my pain was getting bad. He went to get the nurse and she came back and said I'd definitely progressed more so they would call the doctor up. At this hospital the doctor has to come check you and give the go ahead before the epidural for some reason. So they moved me to a different room and by the time the doctor got there, I was around 7 cm and in some INTENSE pain. This was probably around 11:00. By the time the anesthesiologist came to get my epidural I was about jumping off the bed wanting to die. He had a trainee with him, which was super annoying because it took FOREVER for them to get everything ready, and then the trainee didnt quite get it in right and hit a nerve twice which was almost more intense than a contraction was! Finally I got some relief about midnight or right before. My water broke shortly after I got the epidural and when the nurses came in to clean it up and check me I was at a 10 and ready to push. The nurse said, "Oh goodness... DONT PUSH!" She ran out and got the doctor and they rushed to get everything ready and in 3 pushes she was out! SOOO much easier than Jack! I was so surprised at how fast it was! She was laid on my chest right away and we got to do skin on skin for a long time and feed her before she was weighed or bathed or anything like that which I did not get to do with Jack so I was so thankful.

Recovery was a lot faster this time around too, I was up and moving around just fine the next morning.  Could not have asked for a better experience this time around! :) Well... minus the few hours of pain. Haha.

Welcome to the world sweet girl!

(This pic was technically at the end of 35 weeks, but close enough)

It's getting close now!! Starting to feel anxious and nervous and ready all at the same time. I have a severe urge to nest but just do not have the energy or physical ability to get everything done and cleaned that I want to, while taking care of a 2 year old as well. Kind of sucks and makes me freak out, but I'm trying to except the fact that I'm just not going to get everything done I might want to. The next couple weeks are going to be crazy, i'm trying to take it easy as much as I can, but I sort of have a feeling she might come early!

20 Weeks~ It's a Girl and Ultrasound Pics!

IT'S A GIRL!!!

PREGNANCY STATS UPDATE

How Far Long? 20 Weeks, 2 Days

Size of Baby? Size of a mango- usually about 10 oz. (Ultrasound showed baby weighs 12 oz!!!- oh dear Lord, we may be in for another big baby...)

Total Weight Gain?  11 lbs~ I was at 7 lbs this exact time last pregnancy.

Maternity Clothes? Both although most jeans and shorts can't button or zip.

Sleep? Sleeping fairly good.

Food Cravings? Chocolate and peanut butter stuff... but that's typical. :)

Stretch Marks? No new ones yet

Gender? GIRL!!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Getting the nursery ready! It's so much harder this time around. Too many options for girls!

Highlight Of The Week: Obviously seeing baby on the ultrasound and finding out it's a girl with friends and family!

Milestones: Hair is growing on babies head! He can hiccup now. From here on out, my uterus will grow approximately one centimeter each week until I deliver! Get ready baby bump!

Symptoms: Bleeding gums every night while brushing, bloody/stuffy nose, hard to breathe at times, foot cramps.

Belly button in or out: In

We got to see our little girl sticking her tongue in and out, swallowing, and hiccuping in my belly during the ultrasound! She was pretty content hanging out in there and is laying horizontally. We told the tech we didnt want to find out during the ultrasound but wanted to wait to find out with friends and family later that night. So she hid it from us  and wrote it on a piece of paper and put all the pictures on a disc for us to view later. It's a little disconcerting that the tech put a question mark on the gender shots- but comparing it to Jack's it definitely looks much different. haha! I wasn't too impressed by this hospital's ultrasound room/tech, and even the clarity of the photo's, but oh well. Baby looks happy and healthy so that is all that matters.

This was Jack's gender shot! A slight difference. :)

I took the piece of paper to the store and picked out a boy outfit and a girl outfit and told the clerk to open the piece of paper and wrap whichever gender was written on that paper and that I was going to open it later!

We had a small group of friends and family over- and facetimed in my parents and my friend so they could be a part of it too! Jack helped us open the present, which I think he thought was for him, and at first he was excited and hugged my neck as everyone cheered that it was a girl, and then he burst out in tears. So funny! I dont know if he got scared, was upset it wasnt a toy for him, or if he was just disappointed it was a girl. Haha! Never the less, it was classic. I wish we had gotten it on video- totally would've made Funniest Home Videos for sure! :)

11 Weeks with Baby #2!

11 Weeks!

I feel so incredibly blessed to be pregnant again. I love being pregnant and really enjoyed it last time around. So far, it's been a fairly low key pregnancy. I've had the usual nausea, exhaustion, insomnia type stuff but it's all worth it. With this one, I found out I was pregnant very early on. I think right around 4 weeks! When I took the test I was shocked it was positive but so excited!
The first trimester is always scary and I pray constantly that this little baby is growing and thriving each and every day. Once you lose a baby that fear is always there but we saw our little one dancing around at 8 weeks and heard the heartbeat then! Still, it is SO hard to wait each month to hear it again and get some reassurance.

How Far Long? 11 Weeks, 4 Days
Size of Baby? About the size of a Lime

Total Weight Gain? Oh gosh, I haven't even gone there yet this time around...

Maternity Clothes? Sometimes. Definitely popped out quicker this time though!

Sleep? Insomnia most nights. And having to get up to pee at least once.

Gender?
Dont know yet- thinking girl though! :)

Best Moment This Week? People that dont "know" I'm pregnant are being able to tell now by looking at me. :o) So fun.

Food Cravings? Food has been hard. This week has been chef salads though.

Food Aversions?
Iced Coffee for sure. I can't quite figure out what sounds good ever yet. And when I do make or get something, sometimes it doesnt taste good. Lol!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Hearing babies heartbeat

Emotions: Just like last time around my patience has faded. And I can't mask how I'm feeling very well. Whatever I'm feeling, it shows! I do however, cry easier at movies, songs, etc.

Symptoms: Tired most of the time, by mid afternoon I am toast. Not sleeping well at night isnt helping that. I had some round ligament pain one day this week that was weird and uncomfortable. Peeing a lot.

WEEKS 4-10
SYMPTOMS: Nausea, tiredness, sore boobs, trouble eating, indigestion, insomnia

Positive test about 4 weeks!

Ultrasound confirmation at 8 weeks.

Summer Begins!

Summer has officially begun in our house! And that means BBQ's with friends, vacations, lots of time outside, long nights, and being just plain old busy busy busy!

I bought a new pool for Jack and it came in the mail today. He hasnt been too into his bigger real pool but loves to splash around in this little pool mat thing that squirts water. And he uses all the inflatable pieces as punching bags. Haha.
It's always more fun with cousins!
Boys will be boys. They went through two cartons of the firework pop-its in like 5 minutes. I wasnt sure if Jack would be scared of them if he stepped on them or if he popped them in his hand on accident but he was stepping on them bare feet and squishing them with his fingers no prob!

And then Izzy decided she needed to pull her tooth out. Haha!! Never a dull moment.

The evening was followed by a BBQ at friends. There's 8 kids between us four girls!

 The men. :)
Trying to get a picture with all the kids looking proved to be more difficult that it seemed...

 Just the girls!
And a classic- Briggy and Jack fighting over the swing. Lol!! One day they will look back and laugh at this I'm sure.

Happy Summer!
